Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
VoltIQ Academy is operated by Karan Modi, an individual doing business as VoltIQ Academy ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website and learning service (the "Service"), how we use it, and your choices. You can reach us at karanmodi43@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
- Account information: your email address and name, and how you sign in. Our sign-in provider handles your password; we never see it.
- Subscription information: your plan, whether you are in a trial, and billing dates and identifiers from our payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Learning activity: your answers and results in the free diagnostic and in our practice tools, and your progress.
- Free diagnostic sign-ups: if you give us your email to receive your diagnostic results or study tips, we store your email, your score and results by topic, and the time you agreed.
- Messages you send us: emails and any details you include.
- Technical information: your IP address, browser type and pages requested, which our hosting provider records in server logs for security and reliability.
3. How we use it
- to create and secure your account and give you access to what you have paid for;
- to process subscriptions, trials, renewals, cancellations and refunds;
- to show your progress and results, and to improve our questions and explanations;
- to answer your messages and support requests;
- to send service emails (such as sign-in codes and receipts) and, only if you agreed, study tips and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time;
- to keep the Service secure and to meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising across other websites.
4. Who handles your information for us
We use these service providers, each under its own privacy policy:
- Clerk for account sign-in and security;
- Supabase for our database, where subscriptions and learning data are stored. It is set up so that only our server code can read or change student data;
- Vercel for website hosting and server logs;
- Cloudflare for our domain name service;
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, which takes payment, collects tax and issues receipts and refunds. Paddle is the seller of record and handles your payment details under its own terms and privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users or the Service.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar storage that the Service needs to work, such as keeping you signed in and protecting against abuse. Our checkout provider may set cookies to complete your payment. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
6. Children and teens
The Service is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Parents and guardians can ask to see, correct or delete their child's information at any time by contacting us. We do not use student information for advertising.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and learning data: while your account is active, and for a short period afterwards unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Free diagnostic sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Billing and tax records: kept by Paddle and by us for as long as the law requires.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited time.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restrict access to our database to our server code, and rely on providers with established security programs. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, to stop sending you marketing emails, or to tell you what we hold about you, by emailing karanmodi43@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example California and other US states), you may have additional rights, such as to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context advertising, there is nothing to opt out of in that respect.
10. Where your information is processed
We and our service providers process information in the United States, and possibly other countries where those providers operate. By using the Service, you understand your information will be handled there.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the Service before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
